African Youths Development Entertainment Awards Night 2024

"EMPOWERING YOUTHS TO EXCELL"

The Awards was a West African edition held in Liberia at the Ocean Drive Beach & Resort, Sinkor, Congo Town, Monrovia. The ceremony is part of the Pan African Women Project, focusing on promoting talented youths in entertainment in Liberia and West Africa as a whole.

The event was honored by the presence of Madam Macdella Cooper (Special Advisor to the President of Liberia on Political Affairs, representing the First Lady HE Madam Katumu Boakai), Dr. Mrs Eno Ben Udensi (Head of Mission PAWP), and Hon. Augusta James Teima (Minister of Sports Sierra Leone).

African Fashion Competition and Awards 2012

Hosted at Le Méridien Hotel, Uyo, this event was part of our mandate to empower African youths and women to promote creative enterprise across the continent.

Objectives

  • Discover and showcase emerging fashion talents across Africa
  • Create a platform for economic empowerment for women & youth
  • Promote African fabrics, heritage, and identity
  • Facilitate networking between designers, investors, and markets

Key Highlights

  • Participation: Designers from Nigeria, Ghana, Benin Republic, Kenya, South Africa, Cote d'Ivoire, and the diaspora.
  • Categories: Traditional African Wear, Contemporary Afro-Fusion, Accessories & Beadwork, Young Designer of the Year.
  • Awards: $5,000 cash prizes, sewing equipment, scholarships, and international exhibition slots.

Impact & Legacy

The event provided visibility for over 40 emerging designers, with 3 winners securing export contracts for their collections. It established PAWP's footprint in creative industry advocacy, leading to subsequent partnerships with trade ministries and cultural institutions to mainstream fashion as a tool for youth and women empowerment.
